Sweden: Design-Forward Cities Meet Untouched Nature

If there's one word that sums up Sweden, it's contrast. The cities feel effortlessly designed — clean lines, thoughtful architecture, and a strong sense of style in everything from the metro stations to the smallest cafes. Yet it never takes long to step out of that and into landscapes that feel almost untouched.

In the cities, it was the small details that stood out — the way old and new buildings sit comfortably next to each other, waterfront walks at golden hour, and a design sensibility that runs through everything from furniture to public spaces.

Outside the cities, the scale of the nature is humbling — vast forests, still lakes, and an openness that's hard to describe until you're standing in it. The light here is also something special, especially in the early morning and late evening, with long golden hours that are a photographer's dream.

This trip became one of my favorites for exactly that reason — it's rare to get such a clean contrast between vibrant urban life and majestic, quiet wilderness in the same trip. A selection of these shots are in the Wanderlust and Sky & Light galleries.
